The site is located a bit inside Himmerlandsstien and close to Lerkenfeldt Å. The Ice Age has created the landscape of Himmerland as we know it today. A moraine landscape with tuna - dragons, marshes and swamps, hills and valleys. Under the ice during the Ice Age, the meltwater formed rivers, lakes, fjords and inlets.

Lerkenfeld Ådal emerged from the melting ice, and became an arm of the fjord in the middle of the beautiful West Himmerland landscape. Lerkenfeld Å is well-liked by fishermen, nature lovers and people who are interested in history.

The Pirken Fishing Association has the fishing right to fish on approx. 11 km of Lerkenfeld Å. Sea trout, brown trout and rainbow trout are caught here. The river is very varied with stretches of unregulated river flow and deep holes. It is possible to buy a day pass for fishing. Find information here: www.fiskekort.dk
